Smart materials, such as shape memory alloys and nano-carbon materials, are expected to be applied to various fields. In our laboratory, we are studying the characteristics of such smart materials and also analyzing the working characteristics of robots and heat engines using shape memory alloy as actuators. The expression of material functionality is based on atomic level interactions. We are carrying out numerical analysis of these properties by the dynamics of the nano size systems. An example of numerical analysis results is shown in the Fig.1. The martensitic transformation of TiNi shape memory alloy was expressed by numerical analysis. |
