Research content
We are developing artificial DNAs and RNAs with unique functions and applying them to new diagnostic technologies, molecular-imaging technologies for cell surface and intracellular substances, and even drug discovery. For example, we made DNAs and RNAs that fluoresce like fluorescent proteins, and are studying their applications. Specifically, we are developing functional RNAs that fluoresce when bound to intracellular substances related to disease and aim to use them for screening for new drugs.

Research theme

1. Development of methods for fluorescence imaging of cell-surface and intracellular substances
2. Development of screening methods for new drugs using functional nucleic acids
3. Development of simple methods for detection of DNA modifications
